  • Midwives and Mothers in Action (MAMA) is now at work to gain federal recognition of Certified Professional Midwives so that women and families will have increased access to quality, affordable maternity care in the settings of their choice.

International News

  • Midwives for Haiti has been working since 2004 to train community Midwives in Haiti. Additionally, they have been cooperating with other non-governmental organizations to provide post-earthquake relief in Haiti since January 2010.
  • Circle of Health International works with women and their communities in times of crisis and disaster to ensure access to quality reproductive, maternal and newborn care. They are currently working hard to figure out the best way to serve women and families who were affected by the flooding in Pakistan. They are also currently working in Haiti, Sri-Lanka, USA (Louisiana), Tanzania, Israel/Palestine and Sudan.
  • Shirkat Gah, a Pakistan-based women's resource center, is actively engaged in providing and coordinating relief to those affected by the flooding in Pakistan.
  • The Global Fund for Women is a nonprofit grant-making foundation that advances women's human rights worldwide. They raise funds from a variety of sources and make grants to women-led organizations that promote the economic security, health, safety, education and leadership of women and girls. They are currently coordinating fundraising efforts for flood relief in Pakistan.
